Dynamic Ranking
This is the Dynamic Ranking tool. By assigning weight to the metrics (described below), you will determine the weight the ranking system assigns to each value. For a precise breakdown of how this works, see the "methodology" page. Summarily, though, the higher the weight for a given metric, the more important it is to you, and the more it will be favored when assigning dynamic ranks to schools.
Currently, you can assign weights to:
- Total estimated Cost of Attendance [(Tuition + Fees) - (50th percentile grant amount x total % of students recieving grants)]
-- Alternatively, you can weight simple Tuition + Fees alone, but remember to set COA weight to zero, unless you want to heavily favor low-cost schools. -BigLaw and FedClerk employment 12 months after graduation (general, but highly imperfect, metric for employment quality; flaws addressed more on "Methodology" page)
-USWNR Rank
-Percentage of graduates who are unemployed NOT by choice, 12 months post-graduation.
As this developes, I'll be adding more metrics, but my own use of this has already yielded some very surprising information, including but not limited to, my disclaimer below.
DISCLAIMER: I am sure BYU is an outstanding school, however, be aware that while its tution is listed as 14k, this only applies to "latter-day saint" students. Given that this is, in my opinion, generally comparalbe to in/out of state tuition decisions, I have left the data as-is. However, be advised that their non LDS tution is $28,416. So if you are not of the LDS denomination, simply be aware that their listed tuition is not accurate for you.
USAGE:
To use, simply slide the weight sliders to the right to increase, and the left to decrease. In the bottom right corner, are options to filter what data types you want displayed, or hidded. If a field is hidden, it will still be weighted, so be sure to set the weight to zero, if you want to exclude one of the metrics. To hide all data of a set type, simply select "Hide" from the menu. To show the list as dynamically ranked, ensure that the Dynamic Ranking field has been selected for sorting (by clicking on the header). Lastly, you will likely find it more convienient to use by clicking "Open in full-screen mode" in the very bottom right corner.
Thank you, and as always, feel free to reach out with any suggestions, questions, or comments!
